Bangladesh has strongly condemned the killing of two Bangladeshis and the injury of several others in an airstrike in Saudi Arabia and called on all parties to exercise restraint and take urgent international measures to prevent the loss of innocent lives.

A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday said that the government is deeply saddened by the airstrike that killed two Bangladeshis and injured several others in Al-Kharj Governorate, Saudi Arabia, yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Bachchu Mia of Katiadi in Kishoreganj district and Mosharraf Hossain of Sakhipur in Tangail district.

The injured Bangladeshis are currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital, the press release said.

Officials from the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh have already visited the hospital to inquire about the injured and are in close contact with Saudi authorities regarding the repatriation of the bodies of the deceased.

The government strongly condemned the attacks that claimed the lives of innocent people and called on all parties concerned to exercise utmost restraint.

It also called on the international community to take urgent and effective measures to defuse the situation and prevent further loss of life in the region.

The government said the safety and welfare of Bangladeshi citizens in the Middle East is its highest priority and the development of the situation is being closely monitored.
