Independence Day celebration at Bangladesh Embassy in Malaysia

The Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia celebrated the Independence and National Day. The formalities at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur began at 10:30 am local time on Wednesday.

The main ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag in the presence of embassy officials, various community leaders and ordinary expatriates. High Commissioner Md. Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury hoisted the national flag.

Later, a discussion meeting was held in the hall of the High Commission under the chairmanship of High Commissioner Manjurul Karim Khan and moderated by First Secretary (Press) Md. Tariqul Islam. At the beginning of the discussion, prayers and one-minute silence were observed to seek forgiveness for the souls of the brave martyrs of the Great Liberation War and the July-August student uprising. Messages from the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out at the event, and a documentary produced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on the Great Liberation War was screened.

At the beginning of his speech, the High Commissioner paid deep respect to the memory of all the martyrs of the great Liberation War of '71 and the July-August Uprising of 2024 and remembered the contribution of the brave warriors with gratitude and sought everyone's full cooperation in implementing the steps taken by the current government in building the nation. At this time, he first of all praised the contribution of the late President Ziaur Rahman in sending workers abroad and the late Begum Khaleda Zia in establishing the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare.

He also said that the Bangladesh High Commission is fulfilling its responsibility with utmost sincerity in providing all types of welfare services to the expatriates, including passport and visa, consular services, employment, etc.

The event was attended by prominent figures from the Bangladeshi community living in Malaysia, journalists, professionals, ordinary expatriates, and officials and employees of the High Commission.
