Sydney-based Bangladeshi community journalist Naeem Abdullah has been named 'Volunteer of the Year' in recognition of his contribution to volunteer work in the state of New South Wales (NSW), Australia. He received the award as a MacArthur Adult Nominee for managing a Sydney-based online portal.
New South Wales State Parliament MP Greg Warren presented the award to him at a ceremony held at the Campbelltown Catholic Club on Tuesday (September 8). Campbelltown City Council Mayor Darcy Laund and other public representatives from various levels were present at the ceremony.
The Center for Volunteering gives this award every year in various categories in recognition of contributions to community and social work. Naim previously received the 'Volunteer of the Year' award in 2023.
Naeem Abdullah said, 'This honor from a mainstream platform is a great source of pride for our expatriate Bangladeshis.'
For the past 16 years, he has been showcasing the successes, culture, and community activities of Bangladeshis living in Australia through digital media, as well as volunteering in various social and cultural activities.
