Saudi Arabia extends deadline for expatriates to renew work permits

Saudi Arabia has taken an important decision for expatriate workers. The deadline for regularizing the documents of workers whose work permits have expired long ago or who have not yet been issued work permits after joining an organization for a long time has been extended until the end of this year. This will give employers and workers additional time to complete the necessary formalities.

Gulf News reported that the Saudi government has extended the deadline for certain categories of expatriate workers to amend their work permit status, allowing them to complete the necessary legal and administrative procedures.

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said that this extended period will apply to expatriate workers whose work permits expired more than 12 months ago and those who have not yet received a work permit after joining an organization for more than six months.

According to the ministry, this decision has been taken to ensure the implementation of labor laws, protect the rights of all parties involved in employment contracts, and provide an opportunity for organizations and employees to regularize their documents within the stipulated time.

At the same time, the ministry has urged employers and workers to renew or obtain new work permits before the deadline. The ministry has also warned that if the irregularities are not corrected within this special period, action will be taken against those concerned according to the prevailing law.
