In the context of the ongoing military tensions between Iran and Israel in the Middle East, the Bangladesh Embassy and Consulate General have issued a special emergency alert for Bangladeshi expatriates in the United Arab Emirates. In the emerging situation, Bangladeshi citizens living abroad have been specifically requested to maintain maximum security and comply with local laws.
The embassy said in a statement that for security reasons, expatriates should stay away from any military installations. They are advised not to go out unless necessary, especially not to stay under the open sky, and to avoid any kind of gathering until the situation normalizes. Expatriates have been asked to stay in their respective homes or safe places.
Expatriates have been asked to always carry cash and an Emirates ID, an original passport and essential medicines, mobile charger, power bank and sufficient water, dry food and personal emergency equipment to deal with any emergency.
Respecting the strict laws of the United Arab Emirates, expatriates have been asked to refrain from spreading any pictures, videos or baseless news (rumors) about the current situation on social media. Such activities are against the prevailing laws of the UAE and there are strict penalties for it. The embassy has urged to respect the instructions and statements given by the local government.
In case of any problem or special need, expatriates have been asked to contact the embassy (Abu Dhabi) or the consulate general (Dubai) directly on the hotline number and e-mail.
