Today, October 31, is the last day for online voter registration for Bangladeshi citizens living abroad to ensure their right to vote in the national elections. The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) has urged expatriate voters to complete the online registration process as per the scheduled time.

Online registration has been made available on the official website of the Election Commission (https://services.nidw.gov.bd/nid-pub/register-account). It has been informed that those who have a Bangladeshi National Identity Card (NID) can complete voter registration by accessing this website.

However, many people from abroad have complained that they are unable to complete the registration. Especially expatriates from Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America have said that they are unable to complete the process because they do not receive an OTP (One Time Password) in their email after entering the website. Many are failing despite trying multiple times.

This reporter also tried to complete the registration process from Australia, but the process was not possible because the OTP did not arrive in the email.

The attention of the Election Commission and the relevant government bodies has been drawn to the issue on behalf of expatriates, requesting that the website errors be fixed and the registration deadline be extended urgently.
