Due to tariffs and war, the prices of daily necessities have increased in the United States. At the same time, many people's income has decreased due to reduced working hours. In this situation, the 'Sandwip Society' in New York has stood by the people in distress. On the third Saturday of every month, food is distributed to people in crisis under the management of the members of the organization.

The organization's president, Firoz Ahmed, said that over the past 21 months, food items worth $850,000 have been distributed among about 20,000 Americans. During the distribution in Brooklyn, New York City on Saturday afternoon, these food items included rice, lentils, fish, onions, potatoes, cucumbers, cheese, carrots, etc.

Firoz Ahmed also said, "The New York administration is providing funds to buy food items. We are in charge of the management. However, some ancillary expenses have to be borne by society. All the people in the vicinity are receiving this assistance. Earlier, it was distributed twice a month. But now it is distributed once."

There are more than a hundred organizations in New York for the overall welfare of Bangladeshis living in North America as well as for the welfare of their respective areas. When a member of the Sandwip Society dies, the organization takes full responsibility for the burial and shrouding of his body. It helps the family of the deceased with the needs.
