Finally, the long-awaited e-passport service program for thousands of expatriates has been inaugurated in France. Bangladesh Ambassador to France Khandkar M Talha formally inaugurated the modern technology-based e-passport program through a ceremony on Sunday.
Brigadier General Md. Nurul Salam, the Project Director of the Bangladesh E-Passport and Automatic Border Control Management Project, was present as a special guest. The opening ceremony was conducted by the head of the embassy, Waleed bin Kashem.
E-passport project officials and a technical team from Dhaka were also present at the event, along with eminent persons living in France, professionals, media personalities, and Bangladeshi expatriates of various categories.
Project Director Brigadier General. Nurul Salam said, under this program, applicants can apply for a 5-year or 10-year passport. Delivery of e-passport will be possible within one month of receipt of the application.
The Ambassador thanked all the guests who attended the inauguration ceremony and promised to provide e-passport services from the Embassy with utmost sincerity. After the inauguration, training programs were conducted on using the e-passport system and service delivery methods.
On the occasion, Bangladesh Community in France (BCF) President MD Noor said, "Bangladesh entered the e-passport era a few years ago, but due to the slow pace, we French expatriates protested for this service. Finally, we thank the authorities on behalf of the expatriates for launching this service today."
